I’m back up to running 4 days a week and it feels fabulous! My longest run is only 7 miles but this weekend I am venturing out for 10 with Teresa and then 12 the next weekend with Amy. (Side note: Isn’t it cool that I have real life, marathoning, blogger friends?) I am hoping Teresa doesn’t leave me in the dust this Saturday, but if she does, it’s okay because I’m just happy to be back out there.
I don’t want to jynx myself, but I think I may be able to pull off the upcoming Ventura Marathon on
September 7. I almost didn’t even want to put the thought out into the universe and instead just see how this all plays out, but there are so many reasons this race excites me. To begin with, Teresa and Amy are both running it so I would have training pals the entire way. Also, I love Ventura and the race is flat and fast with an ocean finish– my favorite. Finally, this is the LAST Boston qualifier before Boston 2015 registration. Now, I’ve been dealing with a lot of foot issues as of late so maybe finishing in under 3:35 is unrealistic but I genuinely believe I can do it. It is imperative that I stick to only 4 days of running each week, progress slowly, ice, stretch, etc. And if I don’t BQ — oh well. It will still be another marathon under my belt and more memories of running with friends. That is if I can make it 26.2 miles. If not, I can always opt for the half and enjoy the journey with my friends.
So, that’s where I’m at. And since I haven’t made mention of this past weekend, let me say, it was fabulous! We celebrated Brittany’s cousin’s high school graduation, hung out with friends who road tripped all the way to San Diego from Portland and relaxed at the beach after an insanely delicious and fancy Father’s Day brunch at the Marine Room with B’s family.
