I’m so tired. Like the kind of tired where your eyeballs actually hurt. I’m not even complaining because I’m busy with all good things, all the time. I simply over schedule myself with things I love and have too many fabulous friends to spend time with. 😉 No, but seriously – In the last week, I’ve only been home to take a shower and go to sleep (for way less than 8 hours). Man, I miss my bed.
Despite all the tiredness, I had a pretty decent week in training. Things are coming together nicely. The speed is coming back (gradually) and I had a really strong 16 mile run over the weekend with eight miles worth of intervals.
I also have some REALLY exciting news that I haven’t mentioned on the blog yet…
I’m going to SeaWheeze!!
But first, here’s the backstory: I coached my amazing friend Jen to run SeaWheeze in August. I was seriously honored that she asked me to be her coach and I loved being a part of her training. It was so fun watching her go from barely running 3 miles to crushing 11 miles at once. Let’s just say, she’s going to kill it in Vancouver.
So, a couple weeks ago, she asked me to meet her in the parking lot of Seaside Market after my Friday morning run. I had to get to work but I thought something might be wrong so I zipped over there anyway. It turns out nothing was wrong, she just wanted to surprise me with plane tickets to Vancouver to join her, Sheri and our friend Melissa for the ultimate girls running getaway!
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I was speechless and my heart nearly exploded when I opened her card at 7am in that parking lot. It was one of the kindest things anyone has EVER done for me. Sometimes I really wonder how I got so lucky with the friends I have. Seriously, what did I do to deserve these people?
The crazy part is that Sheri and Jen knew someone who could no longer run the race so they were able to transfer her bib into my name on the very last day transfers were allowed. (THANK YOU, TEAGAN! XOXO) So not only am I going to Vancouver, I’m also RUNNING SEAWHEEZE… officially. This is a race that sells out in like five minutes, tops. To have an entry is just icing on the cake. #blessedAF
If you know me, you know this trip is basically like my dream getaway. Vancouver is on my bucket list and the weekend will be filled with yoga, running, healthy food, live music and good friends. I also get to see Jen run a sub 2 hour half marathon – the best part in all of this.
So that’s my next race and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s the weekend before our trip to Italy, so August will be a jam packed month of travel. I’m also headed to Big Bear this Thursday for a long weekend in the mountains by the lake. Think 18 mile trail run and lots of reading. R&R, here I come! (I realize that sounds like an oxymoron, but there will be lots of relaxing.)
