This weekend was the Rock ‘n Roll San Diego Marathon and I had a bunch of friends and acquaintances running the half marathon and the full. Everyone did awesome and I love nothing more than watching people crush their goals. When Ashleigh over at Daily Cup of Asheejojo qualified for Boston last weekend, I literally jumped for joy. And I woke up this past Saturday morning feeling so excited for my good friend Amy over at The Runner’s Hi as she was running a marathon in Boise, Idaho. Sometimes it’s almost more fun to watch other people crush their goals than to crush your own.
This week marks Week 1 of St George Marathon training and the timing of the San Diego Marathon was perfect because it got me totally pumped for training. I have been trying to get in one double digit long run each week for the past three weeks so I am ready to hit the ground running with St George training (no pun intended).
This is also the first time I am creating my very own training plan. After 5 marathons, I feel like I truly understand what works and what doesn’t and I am curious to see what I can do with my own knowledge and experience. We will see how that all pans out in October, eh? I’ll share my plan with you as soon as I have it all written up. I suppose I should also start logging my workouts again, too.
Last week’s workouts:
Tuesday: 4 miles
Wednesday: 5 miles
Thursday: 5.25 miles
Friday: Spin Class (1 hour)
Sunday: 10 miles + Strength Training
Last week was really light in mileage compared to previous weeks but I figure I am resting up for 16 weeks of marathon training.
