My whole life I’ve hated the sound of football blaring from the TV on a Sunday. It brings back unpleasant childhood memories and is like nails on a chalkboard. But today, I don’t hate it. I’m sitting here sipping coffee, mapping out workouts for my run clients, responding to emails and for some reason, the sound of the buzzer and announcer in the background doesn’t make my skin crawl. When I told Brittany this, it practically melted her heart. As a die hard sports fan, it’s been tough for her to be with someone who completely despises all sports. Maybe I’m in a really good mood or maybe I’m finally turning a corner in my life.
Random thoughts. Moving on…
I just spent almost a week in Chicago (again) on a work trip and while it was definitely exhausting, it was also so fun to be back in the city during fall. The colors. The cool temperatures. The riverwalk (which did not exist when I lived there). The energy. It was just perfect. I got in a couple good runs. Took a spin class at the most gorgeous studio (Studio Three, if you live there). Ate some ridiculously good food (hello, Bad Hunter). And enjoyed our unexpectedly chic hotel on Michigan Avenue.
The first thing I did when I got back to San Diego? A sunrise run with Sheri along the coast. As much as I love Chicago – I just love my little coastal town so much more.
I had to take a full week off of running because I had a procedure done on my cervix. I thought it would drive me nuts but I ended up basking in the unplanned but very-much-needed rest. I took walks on the beach and just chilled. Apparently, cervixes take a really long time to heal and mine is not 100% but I am back to running. I’m running for fun without any expectations. 4 miles. 6 miles. 10 miles. Doesn’t matter. I just do whatever I feel and it is AWESOME.
Other happenings this week: Book club, beach day, coffee dates and finally starting Stranger Things (Season 1).
Brittany and I are still toying with the Paris Marathon, but haven’t pulled the trigger quite yet. I’m feeling like we’re at 90% certainty right now. I’ll let you know. 🙂
For like five minutes this morning, it felt like fall and I was so excited. I am so ready for a change in seasons. San Diego teased us for a couple weeks there and then we were hit with a heat wave. C’mon winter. I’m ready for you!
It’s now 1:27pm and yep, I’m still in my sweatpants. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Man, I love Sundays.
