If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know I am back in the running game and ridiculously happy about it. There’s nothing like NOT running to make you really appreciate running. I seriously need that t-shirt that say “Not Running Sucks” because man, it really does.
Even though I only took two weeks off from running, coming back was kind of tough. Those first few runs were a major struggle but I was still so excited to be out there. Every single run has been better since then.
I’ve decided to pass on the November marathon because I don’t think a PR is in the cards (and that’s mainly why I was planning on running it). Instead, I will focus on the North Face Endurance Challenge 50k in early December. I’m really, really excited about this race and how beautiful it will be. I know it will take me FOREVER and I will walk so much of it, but it’s going to be amazing. I just know it.
Now that I’m back at it, I can do my weekly run down of workouts.
Monday: Hot Yoga with Ashleigh
Tuesday: 6 miles with Robin
Wednesday: 3 miles at lunch – get it where you can
Thursday: 7 miles with Robin
Friday: 4 miles solo on the beach
Saturday: 14 miles with Sheri
Sunday: 2 hour walk with Megan
Total: 34 miles
I have a lonnnnnng way to go to be ready for a 50k – which is essentially running the sum of miles I ran in a whole week, in a single run. Yikes.
This weekend was jam packed with friend time. I think I was at home for a whopping two seconds all weekend long. It started with a 14 mile long run with Sheri. We stopped 12656 times to pet puppies, talk to other runners and check out the menu at the Bump coffee truck. Some runs just go that way.
Brittany and I went to a friend’s BBQ the rest of the day and then over to her dad’s house to watch the UCLA game and got home pretty late.
On Sunday, Megan and I did a power walk from Mission Hills to brunch at Florent downtown. It was DELISH! Their mimosas are SO good – you can tell they use REAL orange juice and decent champagne. It makes all the difference. I’d highly recommend this place.
Our brunch date turned into an all day affair. We had our friend Susan pick us up and we went to another place in North Park where we sat around a fire pit and talked for hours until it was dark outside. I really wanted to get more steps in (#fitbitlife) so we walked allllll the way back to my car in Mission Hills. I finished the weekend off with a trip to Whole Foods and then crashed as soon as I got home.
That was my weekend – how was yours?
I also need some Ultra advice!
